Overview

The current understanding in modern occupational health and safety is that people in nursing professions experience significant work-related physical strain. Back injuries are common. There are many situations in which a patient has to be transferred from a bed, a wheeled stretcher, ambulance stretcher, an X-Ray table or a wheelchair to a different stretcher or seat. The strain on the user and the patient / care-dependent can be reduced significantly through the use of transfer aids.

The use of transfer board should be conditional upon the user having learned to use the equipment properly. The user has to decide for themselves what equipment is suitable to the patient's situation and the intended sequence of movements.

The board is a safe transfer aid, which facilitates transfers from bed to bed or other recumbent positions in a manner pleasant and comfortable for the patient as well as simple and back-friendly for the users.

The product may only be used for the specified purpose and under the specified conditions.

The information in this user manual is for the patient who is being transferred and moved, as well as the user performing the transfer / position change.

Contact us if you require additional information or assistance using the HeRui product.

All versions of the board are X-ray and MRI compatible.

Service life

If the product is used in accordance with the safety instructions, then the expected product service life is three years.

However, the effective service life may vary depending on the frequency and intensity of use and the number of cleaning and disinfection cycles.

Perform regular function checks on the product and be sure to observe the safety information (see item 2).

Safety information

WARNING indicates a potential danger which could lead to personal injury or material damage.

※ It is the responsibility of the organization / the user to determine, on the basis of the circumstances(weight / health condition of the patient) and the capabilities of the user, whether several users may be required for the transfer and/or whether additional safety measures are required.

※ Defective products may no longer be used.

※ Risk of slipping! Ensure that the patient doesn't slide of the bed, stretcher, etc. during repositioning or transferring.

※ Risk of accident! When using the board, always ensure that the bed, the stretcher or any sort of mobile support whatsoever is standing securely, i.e. that brakes on it are engaged.

※ Ensure that both ends of the boards are securely supported on the transfer surfaces. The clear distance bridged with the board must not exceed 15 cm.

※ It is essential to ensure that the number of users is sufficient to ensure a safe transfer in the given situation.

※ Never leave the patient lying on board unattended.

※ The smooth surfaces significantly reduce resistance due to friction during repositioning. Check the transfer surfaces carefully to ensure they are fixed in place securely (e.g. wheelchair, bed).

※ Ensure that the patient is lying securely on the board and cannot slide off, especially while lifting the board.

※ Ensure that the transfers are performed by the users in a back-friendly manner.

※ Weight limits must be observed (160 kg).Ø

※ Don't use any pointy objects in combination with the board, since this could result in damage to the product.

※ Transfers under naked skin must be aided with a protective layer (e.g. towel).

※ Transfer products are subject to a natural ageing process. Inspect the equipment regularly to ensure proper functionality.

※ The use of non-standard cleaning agents or bleaching agents, alcohols, textile softeners or other chemical laundry additives may lead to permanent deterioration of the board properties.

Function check

Repositioning products are also subject to a natural ageing process. Inspect the product regularly and carefully.

Ensure that the product is in sound condition and that the material and the seams are not damaged. Check the product functionality by applying pressure and/or a load to the handles and ensure that the material withstands the load. Check the stability by bending the board carefully and ensuring that it is elastic, yet firm and sturdy. The smooth surface of the special sliding material allows for easy sliding and moving. Check these properties – ideally in comparison to a new product.

※ Defective products may no longer be used!

Using the product

Indication and further use

Due to the wide range of possible applications, the indications cannot be tied to a specific clinical picture, since

the boards are suitable for all applications involving people who require assistance during sideways transfers.

The board is particularly well suited to gentle, pain-free and low-friction sideways transfers of people with restricted mobility as well as obese people. In particular, bumps or gaps which occur when two support surfaces are placed next to one another can be bridged.

Application risks

Untrained user: The board may be lifted and/or pushed incorrectly if the user hasn't been trained in or is unfamiliar with correct use of the board. In addition, movements may be performed too quickly or jerkily. This could damage the health of the patient and/or user. Observe the safety information under item 2.

Product marking / CE

The transfer board is a Class I Medical Device and meets the EU-Regulation 2017/745 of the European Parliament and Council dated 05.04.2017 for medical devices, also called MDR.

Cleaning, care and disinfection

General

The transfer board can be wet cleaned. Use warm water and a mild cleaning agent. If applicable, wipe the product off with a moist cloth and then let it dry thoroughly. Don't use any scouring or bleaching agents or any sharp-edged objects for cleaning.

Board

The body itself is very tough, has an inert surface and can be cleaned with conventional household cleaners. The board can be disinfected without a problem using alcohol-based disinfectant solution. Then ensure that it dries fully. Due to the temperature sensitive structure of the material, the board is not well suited to autoclave applications.

Textile Cover

The Textile Cover can be machine washed at 60°C and dried at low temperatures (45° – 50°C). Use a mild detergent! The use of bleaching agents, alcohol or fabric softeners can permanently impair the properties of the Textile Cover. Fabric materials and similar surfaces are generally incompatible with disinfectants containing alcohol and/or aldehydes. Do not autoclave!

Warranty

The company warrants that the product is free from defects in material and workmanship.

The warranty period is 1 years. It does not cover defects attributable to abrasion, normal wear, improper use or improper cleaning.

The company is not liable for accidental or consequential injury or material damage.
