The Emergency Bandage is a specially designed, first aid device that is used to stop bleeding from hemorrhagic wounds caused by traumatic injuries in pre-hospital emergency situations. First used for saving lives during a NATO peacekeeping operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the bandage was successfully used during operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
The Emergency Bandage consolidates numerous treatment equipment into a single unit and provide in one device:
* Non-adherent pad. Eliminating the risk of causing pain and having the wound re-opened upon removal of the bandage.
* Pressure Applicator. Creating the immediate direct pressure to the wound site.
* Secondary Sterile Dressing. Keeping the wound area clean and maintaining the pad and pressure on the wound firmly in place,including immobilization of the injured limb or body part.
* Closure Bar. Enabling closure and fixation of the Emergency Bandage at any point, on all parts of the body: no pins and clips,no tape, no velcro, no knots.
* Quick and easy application and Self-application. Designed with the end-user in mind; for the first-aid trained and the lay care-giver.
* Significant per treatment time and cost savings.
1. Remove the bandage from both pouches.
2. Put the pad that is the dressing on the wound.
3. Wrap the elastic bandage around the injured end.
4. Dip the elastic bandage completely into the pressure bar
5. Pull the back of the elastic bandage at the top of the pressure bar, forcing the bar down on the pad.
6. Wrap the elastic bandage firmly around the pressure bar.
7. Wrap Continuously the elastic bandage around the body in such a way that all the edges of the pad are covered.
8. Hold the hooking end of the closing bar and secure into the elastic bandage
